Whatcha dune?

Going to the sand dunes!!! We went with our neighbors, The Moores, to the Bruneau Sand Dunes on Memorial Day and had such a fantastic time. The Bruneau Sand Dunes are the tallest single-structured sand dune in North America and rises to 470 feet high above small lakes in the high desert south of Mountain Home. We had never been here before and I believe we are headed back at some point this summer! We didn't camp overnight and missed out on looking through the telescope and the night hike to see scorpions!!!
We brought sleds and slid down the dunes......super fun!
OR...you can do it Emmy style!!!!  The girl brought home pockets and other unmentionable places FULL of sand.....that's my girl!
This is Alec on one of his many treks up the dune.
Emily and Dad hiked to the very tippy top of this dune....Go Dad and Emmy!
This girl LOVES to be outdoors.......
Aaron found a horny toad on our rock hunt.....
Along with some neat rocks, we found some VERY cool shells!!!!

What a great way to kick off the summer!

Funny, the last two posts are two places I have never been! Both seem amazing and it's hard to believe that in all our travels as a family we never went to either one. The dunes look like alot of fun (though maybe not at the time of year when we are usually down for a visit). Fun memories for your kids though.

I'll bet you picked perfect weather to see those dunes. I hear it gets pretty scorching in the summer.

I've never been either, and given Emily's response it must be worth the trip.

Our kids enjoyed the mouthfuls of sand they got as then went down the dunes in their sled, pulled by their dad... It was definitely funny! It looks like Emily had the best time of all! What a fun adventure for her! Thanks for sharing!
